| Tracy and Elizabeth grew up in Anchorage, Alaska just down the street from each other. Not to date them, but they’ve been friends now for 36 years. Tracy is a lifelong Alaskan, Elizabeth left Alaska when she was 24 to study art in Seattle and subsequently resided there for 16 years. In the 16 year absence Tracy and Elizabeth remained in contact, visiting each other’s families in Alaska and Seattle. Elizabeth happily moved back home with her two children in 2003. A few years ago Tracy was at his mother’s house mid-winter when he was slapped in the face with a bunch of cold air. The idea for “Alaska Door Jam-eez” was hatched. After closing the outside door he noticed a breeze coming through the door jamb. He pushed the door to close it more tightly and the breeze subsided, but upon release of pressure it returned. Opening the door, he started to inspect the factory installed insulation which upon visual inspection seemed adequate. The problem he discovered was that the area of the door where the lock and lock plate meet had a substantial gap allowing for the free flow air into and out of the house. Also, there were gaps between the door and surrounding jamb allowing for the free flow - not very comfortable at 10 below zero!! The gaps develop due to structural settling of the building over time causing the door and jamb to misalign. Instead of costly replacement, logic prevailed. Simply covering the problem area seemed to be the quickest, easiest and most economically feasible solution. The idea AK DOOR JAM-EEZ is born. |

| It took a few years for Tracy’s idea to become a reality. He hooked back up with Elizabeth in May of '07 and the two went to work. The original idea and prototype was redesigned by Elizabeth. The two rented an office/warehouse space, procured a patent, bought a commercial sewing machine and started production. The original idea was to stop the COLD from entering your home, thus conserving energy and keeping fuel and electric costs down, not to mention stopping the constant draft associated with faulty door jambs. The concept however works both ways. It also keeps the COOL air in!!! This simple invention can be applied to homes and businesses in the warmer climates. Just as it keeps the heat in, it will also keep the cool air in and the hot air out. We are both very proud and excited about our invention and believe that conserving energy is a responsible thing to do. It helps keep our homes and businesses comfortable without causing more damage to our planet. We hope you enjoyed our site and more so that you will enjoy our door “jam-eez”. Tracy and Elizabeth |
